Today in Jerusalem, a reminder of the great Jewish temple that once dominated the city skyline is seen in the model (pictured right) that has been built in the gardens of the Holyland Hotel. The real thing was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70. and fulfilled Bible prophecy (Compare Daniel 8:11-13 with the words of Jesus in his Mount Olivet prophecy).
As Jesus contemplated the forthcoming destruction of the city he wept over it and cried:"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord." -- Matt. 23:37-39. Today, only a part of the original platform remains.
